Dutch integration routes: A2, B1 and Z-route
Check the applicable act and your personal integration and participation plan (PIP). Education and self-rated learning speed do not replace an official assessment.
Three routes under the 2021 Act

| B1-route | B1; conditional reduction to A2 | Language, KNM and participation requirements in the PIP |
| Onderwijsroute | B1 or B2 | Education preparation; check language, KNM and PVT in the PIP |
| Z-route | Self-reliance and A1 learning | PVT, MAP, required classes and final interview; optional A2 language exams |
The municipality assesses the route and records it in your PIP. Check required Z-route lesson and participation hours for your status and plan; do not assume 800 + 800 hours applies to everyone.
Check naturalisation separately
IND currently specifies at least A2 for naturalisation, alongside the relevant examination, evidence or exemption requirements. Completing Z-route alone does not satisfy the integration requirement for naturalisation.
